A Proud Milestone for the Teaching Profession in Nigeria!

On Wednesday, March 11, 2026, Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe (NOCEN) hosted a memorable induction ceremony for successful candidates of the October 29, 2025 Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) Professional Qualifying Examination Integrated (PQEI). The event took place at the College Auditorium, commencing at 7:00 a.m., and formally inducted over one thousand graduates from NCE, B.Ed., and PDE programmes as certified and licensed professional teachers.

The ceremony began with a dignified procession of inductees, followed by the college management and other dignitaries. The National Anthem, Anambra State Anthem, College Anthem, and TRCN Anthem were sung, after which opening prayers were said.
The Provost of the College, Dr. Justina Anyadiegwu, delivered a powerful welcome address. She expressed her joy in welcoming the inductees to this auspicious occasion and reminded them that the event was not merely a formality but “…a rite of passage, a solemn transition from academic preparation to professional responsibility and national service.”

She described teaching as a strategic profession and emphasized that their induction marked a formal entry into a noble calling that demands intellectual depth, moral uprightness, and lifelong commitment to learning.
Dr. Anyadiegwu also profoundly appreciated the Governor of Anambra State, His Excellency Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, for his visionary leadership in education and continued support for teacher development, which has inspired and guided educators across the state.

The Registrar/Chief Executive of TRCN, Dr. (Mrs.) Ronke Soyombo, ably represented by Dr. Abimbola Okunola, delivered an impactful address. She emphasized that the day was not just another date on the calendar but a milestone, a turning point, and a celebration of resilience.

She proudly stated that the inductees were not merely receiving recognition but being formally inducted into a noble profession—one that forms every other profession.
She reminded them that teaching is the art of planting seeds of knowledge that grow into forests of wisdom, describing teachers as “the silent architects of society.” Quoting Nelson Mandela, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world,” she urged the inductees to use this weapon wisely.

Dr. Soyombo expressed gratitude to parents and guardians for their sacrifices, lecturers for imparting knowledge, and the College Governing Council and management for their vision and leadership. She concluded by encouraging the inductees to “walk tall, teach with passion, and serve with humility.”

The induction proper then took place, with TRCN officials administering the professional oath. Inductees pledged to regulate their conduct, promote excellence in education, and contribute to societal development. TRCN certificates and licenses were presented, marking their official entry into the regulated teaching profession.

Mrs. N. P. Okeke, TRCN Coordinator at NOCEN, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the college management, the TRCN representatives from Abuja, and the planning committee chairman, Dr. Uche Achebe. She encouraged the newly inducted teachers to continue as worthy ambassadors of NOCEN and to pursue continuous professional development in their careers.

The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks from one of the inductees, followed by closing prayers delivered by Rev. Fr. Henry Nnajiofor.
