NOCEN PROVOST ATTENDS DEDICATION OF OUR LADY OF ASSUMPTION CATHEDRAL, NNEWI

On Wednesday, January 14, 2026, the Provost of Nwafor Orizu College of Education (NOCEN), Dr. Justina Anyadiegwu, attended the solemn dedication of Our Lady of Assumption Cathedral, Nnewi.

In his homily, Cardinal Francis Arinze challenged the congregation to be living temples by committing to spiritual growth, loving one another, and spreading the Word of God.

Dr. Anyadiegwu, in her goodwill message, expressed belief that the church would be a beacon of hope, a source of grace, and a light to the community, reaching the lost.

The highlight of the ceremony was the dedication rite which includes the traditional anointing of the altar and walls, symbolizing the sanctification of the building as a sacred space dedicated to worship.

In his vote of thanks, the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Nnewi, Most Rev. Jonas Benson Okoye, thanked Almighty God for His goodness, blessings, sustenance, and for making the day a reality. He also expressed gratitude to the church benefactors and all those present for the dedication of the cathedral.
