NOCEN Holds End-of-the-Year Thanksgiving and Festival of Christmas Carols and Nine Lessons
It was an atmosphere of profound gratitude and thanksgiving for the staff and students of Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe (NOCEN), as the college celebrated its end-of-year interdenominational prayer service and Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols.
The event was held to express appreciation to God for His kindness and blessings throughout the year.
Speaking during the sermon at the event, the Chaplain of St. Catherine’s Catholic Chaplaincy, Rev. Fr. Henry Eke, preached on the theme of GRATITUDE (1 Chronicles 16:34; James 1:17; Psalm 69:30), emphasizing that our gratitude must translate into the right attitude toward the blessedness that is Christ Jesus.
In her address, the Provost of the College, Dr. Justina Anyadiegwu, described the event as a moment of deep reflection and an avenue to thank God for sustaining and protecting the college community throughout the year.
She acknowledged her management team and expressed immense joy at the gathering of staff, which highlighted the significance of the season as a time for gratitude, reflection, and renewed hope. She noted that the institution had experienced remarkable progress in the past year, attributing the success to the collective commitment of the staff.
Dr. Anyadiegwu lauded Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his revolutionary interventions and infrastructural developments in the college. She commended the Chairman of the College Governing Council, Dr. Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe, for donating 105 street lights to the college and welfare packages to junior staff. She also graciously acknowledged distinguished member of the College Governing Council, Chief Fidelis Nweke, for taking up the beautification of the college fencing through stone pitching; a project that will not only transform the visual appeal of the environment but also stand as a lasting symbol of commitment and love for the institution.
The highlight of the ceremony was the appreciation shown to the Chairman of the College Governing Council, Dr. Onyeali-Ikpe, by the staff, and the announcement of Mr. Charles Emeka Okoye as the 2025 Best Staff of the College.
