INNER WHEEL DISTRICT 914 AND NOCEN FLAG OFF 2025 “ORANGE THE WORLD” CAMPAIGN TO END DIGITAL VIOLENCE

Inner Wheel Nigeria District 914, in partnership with Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe (NOCEN), today Tuesday the 25th November, 2025 flags off the 2025 “Orange the World” campaign, a United Nations initiative focused on ending violence against women and girls. This year’s theme, “Unite to End Digital Violence Against All Women and Girls,” highlights the rising threat of cyberbullying, online harassment, impersonation, and image-based abuse.

The event featured a keynote address by Gender Activist Lady Anekwe Eucharia, alongside presentations by Dr. Chinwe Enwere and Mr. Charles Okoye, who called for strengthened reporting systems, increased digital literacy, and collective action to protect vulnerable women and girls online.

Key highlights included the financial support provided to 10 indigent female students, the crowning of five Digital Safety Ambassadors, and the announcement of plans to establish an Inner Wheel Chapter at NOCEN.

Students added colour through drama and spoken-word performances advocating safe digital practices and encouraging peers to report online abuse.

Inner Wheel District 914 commended the Provost of NOCEN, Dr. Justina Anyadiegwu, and the College Management for enabling a successful event, and praised the Organising Committee led by Dr. Dorothy Ezenwanne for its excellent coordination.

Participants resolved to intensify awareness campaigns, promote responsible digital behaviour, encourage reporting of digital abuse, and strengthen support systems for victims.
