SOLUDO’S TRANSFORMATIONAL INTERVENTIONS IN NOCEN

The administration of His Excellency, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, Governor of Anambra State, has continued to demonstrate an unwavering commitment to repositioning the Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe (NOCEN) for global competitiveness through massive infrastructural development, staff welfare initiatives, and sustained leadership engagement.

Infrastructural Development

Governor Soludo’s interventions in infrastructure have given the College a facelift and addressed long-neglected structural needs. These include:

1. Reconstruction of the College’s first gate.

2. Reroofing of the one-storey building at the Demonstration Secondary School.

3. Fencing of the Demonstration Primary School, Nsugbe.

4. Construction of internal roads within the College, valued at ₦2.1 billion.

5. Approval of an additional ₦718.7 million for the reconstruction and renovation of dilapidated buildings in the College.

6. Construction of a multi-million naira Students’ Business Complex.

7. Provision of Wi-Fi services across the College community to enhance digital learning and connectivity.

Staff Welfare and Educational Support

Beyond physical infrastructure, Governor Soludo has made landmark strides in staff welfare and educational support, including:

Increasing the College’s subvention to cover over ten years of a 10% salary shortfall, thereby significantly improving staff welfare.

Granting a bailout fund to offset three months of salary arrears owed staff, alongside providing extra funding that ensured the implementation of 100% salary payment.

Donating funds to the College Demonstration Schools.

Paying WAEC examination fees for all SS3 students of the Institution’s Demonstration Secondary School.

Leadership Commitment and Institutional Repositioning

Governor Soludo has distinguished himself as the first Governor in the history of NOCEN to embark on two official working visits to the College. These visits were targeted at identifying pressing challenges and designing sustainable solutions for the long-term growth of the institution. His interventions are anchored on a vision of viability, sustainability, and global competitiveness.
