Today, the Director of the Chinese Language Centre, Professor Xn Zhongbao; the Deputy Director, Dr. Anas Elochukwu; the Representative of the Vice Chancellor, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Dr. Emmanuel Ojukwu; and Prof. Alex Anaedo visited Nwafor Orizu College of Education (NOCEN), Nsugbe for an inspection of facilities ahead of the commencement of the Diploma Programme in Chinese Language and Culture in the 2025/2026 academic session, pending approval.
This visit marks a significant milestone in the College’s drive towards international partnerships and the diversification of learning opportunities for students. Once approved, the Diploma Programme will not only equip students with Chinese language proficiency but also immerse them in the rich Chinese culture—opening doors to global opportunities in education, business, and diplomacy.
During the inspection, Dr. Emmanuel Ojukwu, representing the Vice Chancellor, alongside the Director of the Confucius Centre at UNIZIK, expressed satisfaction with the facilities and commended NOCEN Management for aligning with global educational trends.
The programme is intended to run in affiliation with Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, which will provide oversight for quality assurance.
Speaking on behalf of the Provost, Dr. Justina Anyadiegwu, the Director of Academic Planning, Dr. Joseph Okafor, emphasized that the initiative is part of NOCEN’s broader digital and internationalization reforms. He assured partners of the College’s commitment to delivering excellence, stating:
“We are committed to preparing our students for a borderless world as we await the take-off nod from your institution. The Chinese Language and Culture Diploma Programme will give our students a competitive edge globally.”
With this development, NOCEN continues to position itself as a front-runner in language and cultural education in Nigeria, further strengthening its reputation as an institution of innovation and excellence.
Present at the occasion were members of the College’s Internal Management, including Mrs. Edith Nwoye (Ag Registrar), Mr. Anthony Aniebor (Ag Bursar), Dr. Chioma Azubike (Ag Librarian), and Engr. Nnamdi Onyili (Deputy Director, Works & Services). Others in attendance were Dr. Amaka Ezidimma (Director, Advancement & Linkages), Dr. Joyce Obidiebube (Dean, School of Languages), Dr. Raphael Ibiowotisi (Dean Emeritus, School of Languages), and Dr. Judemary Anyiagor (Coordinator, Chinese Centre).
