Five Outstanding Female Lecturers from Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe glow at the African Forum for Innovative Teachers and National Women in Education and Research Awards in Abuja
On the 10th of July, 2026 five female lecturers nominated by the management of Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe shone brightly as they distinguished themselves amongst over 300 female lecturers from 60 Colleges of Education across the nation in an ceremony organized and sponsored by Africa Forum for Innovative Teachers (AFfIT) and Stand Tall Initiative at the Federal College of Education Zuba Abuja.
The five outstanding lecturers nominated to represent the College are:
1) Dr. Chinyere Agnes Muokwue
Principal Lecturer, Dept. of Educational Psychology
2) Dr. Joy Amaka Ezidimma
Chief Lecturer, Dept. of Economics
3)Dr. Chinwe Mikella Nebolisa
Senior Lecturer, Dept. of Business Education
4) Dr. Anuli Iruoma Aguiyi
Chief Lecturer, Dept. of Linguistics, Igbo and Other Nigerian Languages.
5)Dr. Chika Menkiti
Principal Lecturer, Dept. of Mathmatics
Following a series of rigorous online interviews, presentations, submission of research works, evaluation and academic assessment two of the nominated outstanding female lecturers in the persons of Dr. Anuli Aguiyi and Dr. Chinwe Nebolisa through dedication to research innovation and educational advancement won and were awarded a cash prize of N100,000.00 each.
Other highlights of the event included:
1. Induction of the five outstanding female lecturers as Research Fellows into the African Forum for Innovative Teachers by the Governing Board of Standtall African Initiative and Management of the AFfIT Reseach Community.
2. Appointment as Pioneer Committee Members of the African Women in Research Education and Leadership Advancement Project (AWIRELAP) of which they received appointment letters immediately.
3. Issuance of congratulatory letters to the five of them on their induction as AFfIT Research Fellows.
4. Five of them also received the National Women in Education and Research Award.
5. Invitation to submit research proposals for the AFFIT Research Mini Grant Scheme among other benefits.
In a glowing reception, the Provost Engr. Prof. Victor I.O. Ndirika welcomed the five outstanding female lecturers and congratulated them on their achievements at the Awards ceremony. The Provost acknowledged the sacrifices made by the lecturers in order to attend the ceremony and cheered them for representing the College in such magnitude.
In response the team thanked the Provost and the Management for finding them worthy amongst many other brilliant female lecturers in the College and also for the funds released to them to attend and represent the College in such magnitude.
Worthy of mention is that beyond the financial rewards and awards, the five scholars will help shape the AFfIT long term vision of advancing research, education, leadership, and gender inclusion across Africa.
