“Staff Welfare a Top Priority” — NOCEN Provost Assures as SSUCOEN National President Pays Courtesy Visit

On Wednesday, 3rd June, 2026, the National President of the Senior Staff Union in Colleges of Education (SSUCOEN), Comrade Danladi Ali Msheliza, paid a courtesy and congratulatory visit to the Provost of Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe (NOCEN), Engr. Prof. Victor Ifeanyi Obiora Ndirika, ahead of the SSUCOEN NOCEN Chapter Special Congress and Election.

In his address, Comrade Danladi emphasized the need to strengthen synergy between the College Management and SSUCOEN in order to foster institutional harmony and improve staff welfare, particularly for non-teaching personnel. He expressed appreciation to the Provost for granting the union an audience and commended his union-friendly disposition and sense of fairness in the administration of the College since assuming office.

The SSUCOEN National President also applauded the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, for his infrastructural interventions in the College.

In response, the Provost, Prof. Victor I. O. Ndirika, expressed delight at receiving the SSUCOEN National President, Comrade Danladi Ali Msheliza, and the General Secretary, Comrade Nwaenyi Leo Isioma. He noted that having served in various capacities across several universities in Nigeria, he possesses a deep understanding of the challenges and expectations within the nation’s educational system.

Prof. Ndirika pledged to continue encouraging staff participation in capacity-building seminars, workshops, and conferences. He noted that such engagements promote policy alignment, enhance service delivery, encourage innovation, and provide opportunities for professional networking. He stressed that continuous training equips staff with modern administrative skills and global best practices, reaffirming that staff welfare remains a top priority of his administration.

In his vote of thanks, Mr. Tony Aniebo, the Acting Bursar of the College, expressed gratitude to the National President and General Secretary of SSUCOEN for the visit and their commitment to the welfare of staff.

The visit underscored the importance of constructive engagement between College Management and Staff Unions in promoting industrial harmony, mutual understanding, and improved staff welfare within the institution.
