OUTRAGE IN NSUKKA OVER CONTINUED EXCLUSION FROM MINISTERIAL POSITIONS
The people of Nsukka in Enugu State have expressed growing anger over what they describe as persistent neglect in federal and state appointments, especially in recent ministerial selections.
During a stakeholders’ meeting held over the weekend, community leaders, youth groups, and traditional rulers jointly condemned what they termed a long-standing pattern of exclusion, despite Nsukka’s significant contributions to Enugu’s political and economic development.
Elder statesman Chief Emmanuel Ugwu lamented that Nsukka’s absence from the current list of ministerial nominees symbolizes the government’s disregard for the region. He urged both federal and state authorities to end the “systematic sidelining” that continues to hinder growth and development.
“We have competent individuals capable of serving this nation, yet Nsukka is consistently ignored. This level of neglect is painful and unjust,” Ugwu stated.
Youths in attendance also called on the government to ensure fairness in political representation and infrastructural development, warning that the continued marginalization could weaken the political enthusiasm of the younger generation.
The renewed agitation adds to the broader regional call across the Southeast for greater inclusion and balanced national representation.
