PETER MBAH JOINS APC, SAYS MOVE WILL STRENGTHEN ENUGU’S DEVELOPMENT TIES WITH FEDERAL GOVERNMENT

Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah of Enugu State has officially left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing his decision as a step toward enhancing collaboration with the Federal Government for the progress of Enugu State.

The defection, announced on October 14, 2025, was made public during a ceremony attended by top APC leaders, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, who declared Governor Mbah the leader of the APC in Enugu State.

Mbah was accompanied by a large number of political associates, including members of the State Executive Council, House of Assembly, local government chairmen, councillors, and over 80% of political appointees across the state.

WHY MBAH LEFT PDP

Governor Mbah explained that his decision followed deep reflection and wide consultations, noting that his administration’s development agenda aligns with the APC-led Federal Government’s initiatives.

“This move is not motivated by fear or personal interest. It stems from my commitment to advance Enugu’s development and ensure our people fully benefit from Federal Government programmes,” Mbah stated.

He further emphasized that progress and good governance require collaboration across all levels, adding that joining the APC would help strengthen partnerships that drive economic growth and infrastructural transformation in Enugu State.

APC WELCOMES MBAH

Vice President Kashim Shettima described Mbah’s decision as a bold and forward-looking step, commending his leadership vision and reaffirming the Federal Government’s readiness to work closely with Enugu State.

“Governor Mbah’s commitment to partnership and progress will further enhance development cooperation between the state and the Federal Government,” Shettima said.

Leaders of the APC in Enugu praised the move, describing it as a new chapter for collaboration and accelerated development in the state.

MBAH’S FOCUS ON DEVELOPMENT

Governor Mbah reiterated that his administration remains focused on delivering key projects and reforms aimed at improving infrastructure, education, healthcare, and job creation. He assured residents of his unwavering dedication to policies that promote growth and prosperity across all sectors.

“Our vision for Enugu remains unchanged — to make our state a model of modern governance, innovation, and sustainable development,” he affirmed.
