HOPE RETURNS AS NUPENG ENDS STRIKE, DANGOTE BOWS TO DEMANDS
The fuel scarcity biting hard in Enugu and across the country is set to ease after the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) suspended its strike action.
The industrial face-off, which had grounded fuel supply and left motorists in endless queues, was resolved when Dangote Refinery agreed to the union’s demands on workers’ welfare and the use of CNG-powered trucks.
The peace deal was sealed after marathon talks brokered by the Department of State Services (DSS) and key government officials.
With the strike over, residents of Enugu are breathing a sigh of relief. However, experts warn that the return to normalcy may take a few more days as fuel distribution networks readjust.
For now, transport operators, traders, and households remain hopeful that the painful scarcity and soaring pump prices will soon become history.
