Godfrey Chiemeziem Mortanya is son of Late Catechist Godfrey Obidimma Chukwunweikem and Late Mrs Grace Ngọzi Mortanya of Umudike Kindred in Umuezeagu Royal Family, Umuota Obosi in Anambra State Nigeria. Born at Ahiaba Okpuala Ngwa in Abia State.
Attended United Primary School Okuzu Oba, Community Secondary School Obosi, Abatete High School (Notre Dame) Abatete, University of Jos, St Paul’s University College Awka and Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Studied Theatre Arts and Media Studies (Mass Communication) with bias in Film Studies (Script Writing, Analysis and Production) both. Studied Theology and Religion.
Ordained Deacon on 6th July 2003 at St Stephen’s Church Umudim Nnewi, priested on 28th June 2004 at St Andrew’s Church DCC Nnewi and preferred Canon by Rt Rev’d Dr Godwin I. N. Okpala (now Most Rev’d Prof. Retired) in 30th June 2014.
He was preferred Archdeacon by Rt Rev’d Ndubuisi Chukwuka Obi on 17th December, 2020.
Godfrey has served and still serving in many Boards and Committees as member, Secretary or Chairman.
Married to Mrs Rozlyn Ego Mortanya. They have three sons – Obidimma (II), Chiemeziem (jnr) and Ugochukwu.
