LANDOWNERS TO PAY LESS AS ENUGU LOWERS C OF O PROCESSING COSTS
The Enugu State Government has introduced a significant reduction in the cost of obtaining Certificates of Occupancy (C of O), aiming to make land ownership more accessible to residents and investors across the state.
Governor Peter Mbah, who announced the development in Enugu, explained that the downward review of fees aligns with his administration’s goal of promoting ease of doing business and encouraging proper land documentation.
According to him, the initiative will enable more property owners to obtain authentic land titles, strengthen investor trust, and drive the government’s broader vision for organized and sustainable urban growth.
The Commissioner for Lands and Urban Development, Dr. Victor Nnam, noted that the fee reduction is part of a comprehensive reform to simplify land registration, enhance transparency, and discourage unapproved transactions.
Real estate professionals and residents have applauded the move, describing it as a progressive policy that will ease financial burdens and foster economic expansion through increased land investments.
In addition, government officials revealed ongoing efforts to digitize the C of O application and issuance process, ensuring a more efficient, transparent, and user-friendly system for applicants.
