COURT DELAYS NNAMDI KANU’S PLEA FOR URGENT HOSPITAL CARE
Nnamdi Kanu, the detained head of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has asked the Federal High Court in Abuja to move him out of the Department of State Services (DSS) detention and into the National Hospital for emergency medical treatment.
According to his lawyer, Senior Advocate of Nigeria Kanu Agabi, fresh medical tests conducted in August uncovered worrying health concerns, including pancreatic and liver complications, a growing lump under his arm, and severely low potassium levels.
His defence maintains that the DSS facility is ill-equipped to manage these conditions.
Justice Musa Liman, however, refused to hear the motion because his mandate as a vacation judge had expired, effectively halting proceedings.
The case file has now been returned to the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, who is expected to reassign it to another judge for speedy hearing.
The development has sparked renewed appeals from rights advocates and IPOB supporters, who insist Kanu’s deteriorating health deserves urgent and humane attention from the Nigerian judiciary.
