ENUGU STATE REINFORCES SECURITY WITH NEW FOREST GUARD LEADERSHIP
Enugu State has ushered in a fresh era of environmental and security reforms with the unveiling of a restructured Forest Guard leadership.
Determined to keep the state’s forests safe and secure, Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah approved new appointments designed to inject professionalism and discipline into the agency.
At the helm of affairs, Colonel Dan Didiugwu (rtd) now serves as the Chairman of the Forest Guard Board, awaiting Assembly confirmation, while Dr. Olamitisoji Akinbamilayo, a retired Deputy Commissioner of Police, has stepped in as the Commander of the Forest Guard, a role that takes immediate effect.
In a major shake-up, the former State Coordinator position was scrapped, signaling a shift towards a more centralized and efficient command system.
Governor Mbah noted that this transformation will not only enhance forest protection but also curb illegal activities and criminal hideouts within the state’s green reserves. He stressed that his administration is committed to modernizing security structures, making Enugu safer for both citizens and natural resources.
Residents and observers have hailed the move as a step in the right direction, describing it as both strategic and timely in tackling insecurity and environmental challenges across the state.
