DANGOTE CLEARS AIR ON ENUGU TRUCK TRAGEDY, VOWS ACTION AGAINST FAKE BRANDING
Following the recent twin accidents that shook the Enugu–Port Harcourt Expressway, Dangote Industries Limited has moved swiftly to clear its name.
The company stressed that the trucks responsible for the crashes — which left 10 people dead and 10 others injured — were not part of its fleet.
According to the company, one of the trucks was operated by Visco Investment Global Limited, while the second belonged to Global Investment, both independent logistics firms.
What caused the stir, however, was that one of the vehicles allegedly carried the Dangote logo, a move the company condemned as unauthorized and deceptive.
Dangote described the use of its branding on non-affiliated trucks as “damaging to its reputation” and revealed plans to take legal steps against those behind it .
The group also called on Nigerians and the media to avoid spreading unverified claims that link the firm to accidents it has no ties with.
The first crash, which happened around 9 a.m., involved a Howo cement truck and multiple cars, killing six.
The second occurred by 3 p.m., when a Sino truck rammed into a tricycle, leaving four people dead.
While expressing deep sympathy to the bereaved families, Dangote reaffirmed its dedication to road safety, corporate integrity, and accountability.
The company assured the public that it would intensify monitoring of its logistics operations and stamp out misuse of its name and identity.
