SOLUDO SLAMS OBI, SAYS LABOUR PARTY HAS LOST RELEVANCE IN ANAMBRA
Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has thrown a broadside at his predecessor, Peter Obi, after Obi endorsed candidates of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the recent by-elections.
Speaking before an excited gathering of APGA loyalists, Soludo downplayed the influence of both ADC and the Labour Party in the state.
“ADC has no footprint in Anambra. We demonstrated that yesterday. Labour Party is finished,” he remarked, sparking applause from supporters clad in APGA’s iconic cock-crested attire.
The governor maintained that the ADC coalition attempted to use the by-election as a platform to gauge its popularity, but insisted that the electorate responded decisively. “The people spoke overwhelmingly with more than 75%. APGA is not just a political party, it is our movement,” Soludo asserted.
The outcome cemented APGA’s supremacy as Chris Nwachukwu clinched victory with 90,408 ballots, defeating APC’s Azuka Okwuosa, who secured 19,847 votes, while ADC’s Donald Amangbo managed a mere 2,889 votes.
Nwachukwu will now step into the Senate seat formerly occupied by the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, whose death in July 2024 led to the vacancy in Anambra South.
