INEC COMPLETES DISTRIBUTION OF MATERIALS AHEAD OF ANAMBRA SOUTH AND ONITSHA NORTH 1 BY-ELECTIONS
The stage is set for voters in Anambra South Senatorial Zone and Onitsha North 1 State Constituency to head to the polls on Saturday, August 16, as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) wraps up preparations for the by-elections.
The elections, which follow the untimely passing of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah and Hon. Justice Azuka, are expected to restore long-awaited representation to the people of both constituencies.
Confirming INEC’s readiness, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Dr. Queen Elizabeth Agwu, announced that the distribution of both sensitive and non-sensitive election materials has been completed. According to her, voting will hold across 210 wards in Anambra South and 118 wards in Onitsha North 1.
For constituents, the stakes are high. Many see this election as a chance to demand stronger leadership and accountability, with political observers predicting that voter turnout will serve as a true reflection of the people’s commitment to democracy.
