ENUGU UNVEILS YEAR-LONG MONTHLY FOOD AID FOR STRUGGLING HOUSEHOLDS
The Enugu State Government has launched a 12-month food distribution programme targeting vulnerable families, in a bid to fight hunger and uplift communities across the state.
At the official launch, Governor Peter Mbah (represented by Prof. Chidiebere Onyia) said the goal is to ensure no resident goes to bed hungry.
Over 500 households will benefit monthly, receiving staples like rice, beans, oil, salt, and more.
NOT JUST RELIEF—A PATH TO ECONOMIC GROWTH
The initiative goes beyond feeding the hungry. All food items are locally sourced from rural farmers, creating a direct economic link between the state’s poorest families and its producers. This approach supports both food security and local livelihoods.
POWERED BY COMMUNITY AND TRANSPARENCY
The state is partnering with community leaders, churches, civil society, and the private sector to ensure the distribution is fair and well-monitored.
ALIGNED WITH GLOBAL GOALS
The programme contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals, including Zero Hunger, No Poverty, and Reduced Inequality.
GRATEFUL VOICES
Beneficiaries expressed deep appreciation. One recipient , “This will help my family survive these hard times. We are grateful.”
