BABY FACTORIES SURGE IN ANAMBRA: YOUTHS NOW COHABIT TO PRODUCE BABIES FOR SALE, NAPTIP WARNS

A disturbing Social Trend has emerged in Anambra State, where young Men and Women allegedly cohabit with the sole intent of producing Babies for illegal Sale.

This alarming Report was disclosed by the National Agency For The Prohibition Of Trafficking In Persons (NAPTIP), which noted a surge in Baby Factories especially in rural parts of the State.

The Southeast Zonal Commander of NAPTIP, Mrs. Ifeoma Okonkwo, raised the Alarm while speaking during an anti-human trafficking Campaign in Awka.

She explained that several makeshift Maternity Homes had been discovered where Girls as young as 16 are kept, impregnated, and made to sell their Babies under the control of Syndicates.

Most of the Girls involved are reportedly deceived with false Job Promises or Material Support.

Others enter into voluntary Cohabitation Agreements with Men who are also part of the trafficking Chain. Once the Babies are delivered, the Children are sold to Buyers, some of whom come from outside the Country.

NAPTIP described this Development as a dangerous abuse of Reproductive Rights and a ticking Time Bomb that threatens the Future of Nigeria’s Youth.

The Agency is now working with the Anambra State Government and local Law Enforcement to crack down on the Networks involved.
