MASSACRE IN OGBOJI: UNKNOWN GUNMEN KILL OVER 10 NON-INDIGENES IN ANAMBRA COMMUNITY
The peaceful Ogboji Community in Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State was shattered on Sunday, June 30, 2025, as unknown Gunmen opened fire during a monthly Community Meeting, leaving at least 10 People dead.
Unofficial Reports suggest the Number could be as high as 13.
The Assailants stormed the Gathering around 3 p.m., targeting Individuals believed to be non-indigenes, mostly from Ebonyi State.
The Victims were said to be attending a regular Town Hall-Type Meeting when the Attackers arrived and began shooting sporadically.
Initial Fears spread quickly as Residents suspected the Killings may have been ethnically or politically motivated.
However, Anambra State Police Command, in a Statement issued by DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, revealed that one Suspect was already in Custody and Investigation into the Motive was ongoing.
Governor Chukwuma Soludo condemned the Attack and assured Residents that Security Measures had been intensified in Orumba and nearby LGAs.
He also urged Community Leaders to remain calm and allow Law Enforcement to carry out a thorough Investigation.
The Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has expressed outrage over the Killings and has urged the Anambra State Government to bring the Perpetrators to Justice, warning that Silence or Delay could threaten regional Cooperation between the two Southeastern States.
The Incident has sparked Debate on rising Insecurity in the Southeast, particularly concerning unidentified Gunmen and alleged politically sponsored Attacks.
