BENUE STATE MASSACRE: OVER 100 KILLED IN VILLAGE ATTACK
In one of the deadliest attacks in recent memory, more than 100 people were killed in yelewata village, located in the guma local government area of benue state.
The attackers, believed to be armed herders or bandits, stormed the village at night, setting homes ablaze and shooting indiscriminately. according to reports from amnesty international and local residents, many victims, including women and children, were trapped in their homes and burned alive.
This massacre is part of a disturbing pattern of violence in nigeria’s middle belt, where land disputes, ethnic tensions, and religious differences often escalate into deadly conflicts. the state government has called for federal intervention, while humanitarian organizations are struggling to provide aid and support to displaced survivors.
Security forces have been deployed to the area, but critics argue that such measures often come too late and lack coordination.
