VERYDARKMAN SLAMS AKPABIO’S ROME TRIP AMID NATIONAL INSECURITY, APC FIRES BACK
.
Social media personality VeryDarkMan stirred nationwide debate after criticizing Senate President Godswill Akpabio for traveling to Rome despite the escalating insecurity in Nigeria. In a viral video, VeryDarkMan argued that, given the surge in killings across states like Benue, Plateau, Kwara, Ogun, and Enugu, Akpabio’s presence was needed at home, consoling grieving communities rather than attending a funeral abroad.
.
He insisted that the Senate President lacked the moral credibility to represent Nigeria at the Vatican while families across the country were mourning the loss of loved ones due to unchecked violence.

APC GIVES ONE-WEEK ULTIMATUM, DEMANDS APOLOGY
Responding swiftly, the South-South Zonal Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) issued a statement on Sunday, giving VeryDarkMan a seven-day ultimatum to publicly apologise to Akpabio.
In its statement, the APC accused VeryDarkMan of engaging in a pattern of blackmail, defamation, and character assassination, all while masquerading as a voice for the oppressed.
.
“VeryDarkMan is rapidly building a reputation for slander and cheap populism under the disguise of social advocacy,” the APC declared. “His unprovoked attack on the Senate President — who was officially nominated by President Tinubu to represent Nigeria in Rome — is both disrespectful and baseless. What exactly was wrong with fulfilling a national duty?”
.
APC DEFENDS TINUBU’S COMMITMENT TO SECURITY
The APC further defended President Tinubu’s dedication to security, pointing out that upon his return from Europe, the president convened a high-level meeting with security chiefs, issuing firm orders for a new, more aggressive strategy to tackle the nation’s security challenges. “Is this the action of a leader indifferent to the suffering of Nigerians?” the party asked rhetorically.

TINUBU’S OFFICIAL DELEGATION TO THE VATICAN
The official Nigerian delegation to Rome included notable figures such as:
– Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs;
– Archbishop Lucius Iwejuru Ugorji, President of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria;
– Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah of the Sokoto Diocese; and
– Archbishop Ignatius Ayua Kaigama of Abuja.
.
Presidential adviser Bayo Onanuga clarified that the delegation’s mission was to formally deliver a condolence letter from President Tinubu to the Acting Head of the Vatican, following the reported death of Pope Francis.
