The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Dennis Idahosa, has appealed to citizens to remain composed in response to the horrific execution of 16 Northerners in Uromi. In a statement delivered on Saturday by his Chief Press Secretary, Friday Aghedo, Idahosa reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to fostering harmonious relationships among diverse ethnic groups.

“Edo State accommodates everyone, regardless of their ancestry or religious affiliations. However, we will not entertain any form of lawlessness, and those culpable will face severe legal consequences,” he declared.

Furthermore, he conveyed his heartfelt greetings to Muslim adherents as they commemorate the 2025 Eid-el-Fitr, urging them to uphold the virtues of harmony and mutual respect promoted throughout the sacred period of Ramadan.

As reported by SaharaReporters, the victims, who were hunters traveling from Rivers State to Kano in preparation for the Eid festivities, fell prey to an ambush orchestrated by a local vigilante faction and armed individuals on March 27. Their vehicle was intercepted on the highway, after which they were forcibly removed, ruthlessly assaulted, and subsequently set ablaze after being drenched in gasoline.
