Infertility in a woman can be caused by many factors but we will look at some of the common causes.
.
1. INFECTION: Infection is one of the most common causes of female infertility. Usually, the infection is stubborn and does not respond to available antibiotics.
.
2. HORMONAL IMBALANCE: Female hormones include Follicle Stimulating Hormone, Estrogen, Luteinizing Hormone, Progesterone, Prolactin, etc. They are meant to be produced at the right time and at the right quantities. When this rhythm is disrupted, infertility occurs.
.
3. FIBROIDS: When fibroids are very large in size, they disrupt fertility.
.
4. FIBROSIS: This is when a physical damage occurs on the internal surface of the reproductive tracts. If this scarring is substantial, it could disrupt fertilisation and implantation.
.
5. TUBAL BLOCKAGE: The fallopian tubes are supposed to enable contact between the sperm and egg for fertilisation to occur. A blockage of this tube impairs fertilisation.
.
Other factors include: low quality eggs, excess body weight, low body weight, ageing ovaries, poor diet, stress, anxiety and genetic factors.
