Family sources have revealed that Dara Okupe, a distinguished former presidential spokesman, tragically lost his life following a surgical procedure at a medical facility on Lagos Island. Okupe had returned to Lagos from Abuja merely days prior to undergo the operation.

A PROLONGED STRUGGLE WITH MULTIPLE AILMENTS

Okupe had been courageously battling an array of health challenges for over four decades, including prostate cancer, and had been diligently adhering to a regimen of multiple medications. Additionally, he had been grappling with weight-related issues. Despite his valiant efforts to manage his health, Okupe’s condition unfortunately took a dire turn.

A PREVIOUS ENCOUNTER WITH PROSTATE CANCER

In October 2023, Okupe had been hospitalized due to complications arising from prostate cancer and had subsequently undergone treatment in Israel. Regrettably, his condition failed to exhibit the anticipated improvement. Okupe’s initial diagnosis with prostate cancer had occurred 16 years prior, and he had later developed sarcoma in his right shoulder.
