Yusuf Folorunsho, a young resident of Kogi State, has been arrested and secretly transferred to the Department of State Services (DSS) on the direct orders of Governor Usman Ododo. Folorunsho’s alleged crime? Criticizing the governor’s administration ¹.

According to sources, Folorunsho was initially detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Lokoja after his arrest in Ajaokuta. The Chairman of Ajaokuta Local Government Area filed a petition against Folorunsho, allegedly on behalf of the governor.

A senior police officer at the SCID revealed that Folorunsho’s arrest was ordered by Governor Ododo, who claimed that Folorunsho wrote against the government and criticized it. However, the governor became dissatisfied with the SCID’s handling of the case, suspecting that officials were being lenient with the detainee ¹.

This incident raises concerns about freedom of speech and the rule of law in Kogi State. It’s not the first time Governor Ododo’s administration has been accused of cracking down on critics.
