A chilling crime has shaken the community in Ore, Ondo State, Nigeria, after a businessman, Ismaila Awoyinka, was brutally assassinated on Saturday night. The attackers, dressed in white clothing, ambushed him on a motorcycle and shot him at close range, leaving him lifeless on the ground.

Awoyinka had just left the mosque after performing the Taraweeh prayer when the assailants struck. The attack occurred near his home, opposite Caring Heart Mega School in the Idi Mango area, around 8:35 p.m. Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with the news of his assassination spreading like wildfire and drawing a large crowd to his residence.

The Chairman of Odigbo LGA, Taiwo Adegoroye, has expressed deep concern over the security situation, describing the assassination as a tragic loss. The Ondo Police Command has launched an investigation into the killing, with ASP Funmilayo Odunlami confirming the incident and stating that “investigation is ongoing to unravel the assassination of the businessman.”
