Nigeria is facing a daunting challenge as its food insecurity situation is projected to worsen by 2025, with approximately 33.1 million people expected to face severe food insecurity during the lean season from June to August. This represents a staggering increase of 7 million people compared to the previous year .

– Economic Hardship: High inflation rates and economic instability are taking a toll on the country’s food security.
– Climate Change: The impacts of climate change are affecting agricultural productivity and food availability.
– Persistent Violence: Ongoing violence in northeastern states is displacing people and disrupting food systems.
VULNERABLE POPULATIONS
– Children: 5.4 million children are at risk of acute malnutrition or wasting.
– Pregnant and Breastfeeding Women: Nearly 800,000 pregnant and breastfeeding women are facing malnutrition.
AFFECTED REGIONS
– Northeast: Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe states are among the most affected.
– Northwest: Sokoto, Katsina, and Zamfara states are also experiencing food insecurity.
