NIGERIAN FOOTBALL TEAM ENDURES 13-HOUR LIBYAN AIRPORT ORDEAL, RETURNS HOME SAFELY

The Nigerian football team’s ordeal at the Libyan airport was unfortunate, but thankfully, they’re now safely back home. The team’s captain, William Troost-Ekong, summed up the resilient spirit of the team perfectly. The “Naija Spirit” indeed!

It’s commendable that the team’s plight garnered attention and condemnation, leading to Libyan authorities clearing their flight. The viral photos of the team sleeping on benches highlighted the unacceptable conditions they faced.

“BACK HOME SAFE & SOUND. Proud of this team, NAIJA SPIRIT can’t be broken. Throw at us what you want, it’s in our blood to overcome,” Captain William Troost-Ekong expressed on his X handle.

Now that they’re back home, I hope the team gets some well-deserved rest and preparation for their next match.
