TINUBU’S LEADERSHIP COMPARED TO HITLER: GANI ADAMS WARNS OF SOCIAL UNREST AND NATIONAL HARDSHIP

Iba Gani Adams, the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, recently drew a stark comparison between President Bola Tinubu and Adolf Hitler, stating that Tinubu’s stringent policies are causing significant hardship for Nigerians. In a personally signed letter addressing the state of the nation, Adams urged Tinubu to reverse some of these harsh measures, emphasizing that time is running out for corrective action.

Adams began by addressing Tinubu directly, acknowledging the hopes of over 65 million Yoruba people and Nigerians in general, who believed that his leadership would harness the country’s vast natural and human resources. Reflecting on the failures of past Nigerian leaders since independence in 1960, Adams expressed disappointment in how Tinubu’s governance has unfolded.

He criticized the sharp rise in fuel prices and the drastic depreciation of the naira under Tinubu’s administration since taking office in May 2023. Adams questioned the competence of key figures in Tinubu’s cabinet, such as Finance Minister Wale Edun and CBN Governor Yemi Cardoso, asking what kind of economic advice they were providing.

Adams also voiced deep concerns over escalating insecurity, despite widespread hopes that Tinubu’s leadership would address the issue. He likened Tinubu’s approach to that of Adolf Hitler, suggesting that Nigeria under Tinubu is on a path similar to Germany’s under Hitler’s dictatorship, which led to economic devastation and the destruction of democratic institutions. Adams warned that if these oppressive policies continued, it could provoke social unrest, and urged Tinubu to be more attuned to the suffering of Nigerians.
