THE NIGERIAN DSS HAS RAIDED SERAP OFFICE IN ABUJA

This was revealed on Monday morning in a post that the civic organisation posted.

But the group claimed that the DSS agents continued requesting to speak with its directors, implying that they had come to detain them.

Leading human rights group SERAP has openly criticised the Nigerian government’s record on human rights issues and has brought multiple legal actions against it on behalf of those who have been the victims of violations of their rights.

Although the exact cause of the SERAP directors’ attempted arrest is unknown, it is thought to be connected to the group’s recent actions, such as its support of government accountability and openness. The group posted on Facebook, saying, “BREAKING: Nigerian State Security Service (SSS) officers are currently illegally seizing SERAP’s Abuja office and demanding to speak with our directors.

“President Tinubu needs to give the SSS immediate orders to stop harassing, intimidating, and violating Nigerians’ rights.” Joe Ajaero, the president of the Nigeria Labour Congress, was detained by the DSS on Monday morning.

The labour leader was reportedly about to board a flight to the United Kingdom when he was detained at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
