AkANDE: TINUBU’S ADMINISTRATION SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ACTS OF TERRORISM IN NIGERIA

The administration of President Bola Tinubu has come under fire from the workers’ rights organisation Solidarity Network for Workers’ Rights (SNWR) for the ongoing detention of #EndBadGovernance protestors and intimidation of labour leaders.

The recent ruling by a Federal High Court in Abuja to allow the police to remand 124 #EndBadGovernance protestors for 60 days is a major violation of constitutional rights and an affront to justice, according to Akande, who expressed dismay on behalf of his organisation.

Naturally, the illegal episode provides a key explanation of Fela’s political insight in the song “Government Magic.” We vehemently condemn the high-handedness of the Tinubu administration and the activities of National Security Advisor Nuhu Ribadu, whose unlawful operations continue to violate the rights and liberties of Nigerians.

“The Tinubu-led APC dictatorship cannot hold Nigerian youths responsible for their protests against its capitalist policies, funded by the World Bank and the IMF, which have sustained widespread poverty and hunger in the face of abundance, all the while falsely labelling individuals as terrorists and listing financing for terrorism as part of the offences.

In actuality, considering the Tinubu-APC government’s implementation of these questionable capitalist policies, its ongoing borrowing of millions of dollars with no tangible results, and the widespread looting and extravagant lifestyle of politicians—including the acquisition of a private jet in the name of the country, Tinubu’s Administration should be held accountable for acts of terrorism.
