ASUU DEBUNKS STRIKE RUMOUR

Reports circulating that the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) had given the Federal Government a 21-day notice to strike have been refuted.

Online rumours surfaced that the academic union had abandoned its preparations to go on a statewide walkout in protest of the government’s failure to carry out a number of the agreements it had previously signed.

The notification was sent out at the conclusion of an ASUU National Executive Council (NEC) meeting that took place at the University of Ibadan in Oyo State, according to the report. Emmanuel Osodeke, the head of ASUU, refuted the report when reached by DAILY POST, calling it only “social media news”

If the union does decide to take action, he says, it will be officially announced to the public. “All those things are just social media news,” he declared.

Any action we choose to take is formally announced, and a copy is sent to you.
