NIGERIA ENDS OLYMPIC GAMES WITH NO MEDAL

Following some outstanding results in qualifying events, Team Nigeria qualified for the Olympics.

Regretfully, similar to past Games, the nation registered for 12 events but was unable to carry over its continental dominance to the Olympics. Nigeria has returned home empty-handed after a string of devastating defeats and a few mishandled incidents.

That most recently occurred during the 2012 London Games.

N12 billion had been approved by President Bola Tinubu for the nation’s participation in the Olympics and Paralympics.

While N 3 billion was budgeted for the latter, N 9 billion was set aside for the former.

“Team Nigeria’s poor showing at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, when the nation failed to win any medals, is a result of numerous other issues that require urgent attention in the nation.

It cannot be solved alone by our participation in the Olympics.
