This Friday, the Super Falcons of Nigeria will play their second group stage encounter against Spain, the World Champions, with a chance to spark a comeback at the Olympics. Brazil defeated the Falcons 1-0 on Thursday in a closely contested match.

The Nigerian team had plenty of opportunities, but they were unable to find the back of the net.

Gabby Nunes scored Brazil’s lone goal in the 37th minute after dodging the offside trap and hitting home a strong strike.

This game was significant since it was Nigeria’s first Olympic competition after a 16-year break.

Conversely, Spain had a great start to their first campaign, defeating Japan 2-1 after falling behind. Aitana Bonmatí, the playmaker, scored a goal and provided an assist
to ensure Spain won

With this win, Spain is now tied for first place in Group C with three points with Brazil. Nigeria and Japan, who now hold the bottom two positions in the group, are both still pointless.

On July 28, 2024, on a Sunday, Nigeria will play Spain at the Stade de la Beaujoire in Nantes, France.
