LISTS OF UNIVERSITIES THAT ILLEGALLY ADMITS STUDENTS IN NIGERIA (ACCORDING TO JAMB BOARD)
The accusation against the universities was made on Thursday during an admission policy meeting in Abuja, the capital of Nigeria, by the JAMB Registrar, Is-haq Oloyede.
He listed the following universities: Ambrose Alli University, Kwara State University, National Open University (NOUN), University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), and University of Abuja (UNIABUJA).
When Mr. Oloyede first listed the defaulting universities, Delta State University (DELSU) was one of them. However, he then recanted that accusation, claiming that DELSU’s appearance on the list was a mistake.
Key players in the nation’s post-secondary education admissions processes, such as university vice-chancellors and registrars, polytechnic rectors and registrars, college of education provosts and registrars, and principal officers of monotechnics, are gathered at the policy meeting organised by JAMB.
According to Mr. Oloyede, the Nigerian government has previously waived the requirements for about a million candidates who were purportedly admitted by these institutions unlawfully.
He stated that the applicants who were admitted illegally between 2017 and 2020 were eligible for waivers from the Federal Ministry of Education.
