THE FORMER SENATE PRESIDENT (JOSEPH WAYAS) REMAINS ARRIVE NIGERIA
About three years after his passing, the late Senate President Joseph Wayas’s body has reached Nigeria. Wayas, who served as Senate President from October 1, 1979, to December 31, 1983, passed away on November 30, 2021, at the age of 80, following a protracted illness, in a hospital in London. Twelve days later, his first wife passed away.
Although she was buried, the esteemed politician’s remains remained in a London mortuary, a development that caused controversy.
The former Senate President’s remains were transported by British Airways 083 from Heathrow Airport in London, United Kingdom, to Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, where they landed at 4:40 am (local time).
Jarigbe Agom, Peter Akpanke, family, relatives, and other interested parties received his body and placed his remains in the mortuary at the National Hospital in Abuja.
