THE EX VICE CHAIRMAN OF THE APC CALLS ON FORMER LEADERS AS WELL AS THE PRESIDENTIAL ASPIRANTS FOR NIGERIAN RESCUE

In order to save the nation from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu, former vice president Atiku Abubakar, former vice president Yemi Osinbajo, former governors of Kano and Kaduna states, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and Nasir El-Rufai, and former vice president Peter Obi have all been urged to band together by Salihu Lukman, the immediate past national vice chairman of the APC.

In a statement released on Sunday, Lukman stated that political leaders needed to understand that cooperation and teamwork are key to pulling Nigeria out of its current precarious situation.

He emphasised that selflessness on the part of Nigerian political leaders was necessary to forge the kind of united front that might advance Nigeria’s democracy.

“All political leaders in the country, especially Alh. Atiku Abubakar and Mr. Peter Obi, should be humbled by the requirement for high acceptability from all sections of the country, and not exploit the need for such a united front by imposing their presidential ambitions,” stated the former APC chairman.

“In the same spirit, other APC leaders who, in one way or another, have aspirations to become president of Nigeria, like Prof. Osinbajo, Chief Amaechi, Dr. Fayemi, Mal. El-Rufai, Sen. Amosun, etc. (APC political orphans), must bury such ambitions, at least not during the negotiation to form the united political front.”

Along with other political heavyweights, Lukman urged former governors Rotimi Amaechi, Rauf Aregbesola, Kayode Fayemi, and Ibikunle Amosun to unite in their fight against the ruling party.

The existing political split in Nigeria, he continued, is what would prevent political leaders from working together if the APC and President Asiwaju Tinubu are to have any significant electoral strength in 2027.

The foundation of Nigerian nationhood is being undermined by the increasing instances of poor administration in the nation, which can be attributed to the political leaders’ lack of cooperation.

When democracy is unable to address the problems that its people face, Nigeria’s status as a sovereign nation will be called into question.
