A NIGERIAN -UK BASED TAXI DRIVER RECEIVES NIGERIAN SALARY DESPITE RESIDING IN THE UK

For the last two years, 36-year-old Nigerian national Sabitu Adams has been living and working in the UK as a cab driver.

It’s interesting to note that the Nigerian government still pays him N150,000 (about $100 or £80) per month.

Adams said in a BBC interview that he would barely make ends meet if he lost this Nigerian salary because he makes enough money driving cabs in the UK.

Adams clarified that he decided against resigning in order to preserve his options for a potential comeback.

His circumstances are in line with a wider pattern whereby more than 3.6 million Nigerians have left their country in quest of better prospects amid economic hardships made worse by currency depreciation as a result of President Tinubu’s policies.

President Tinubu expressed amazement upon learning that civil servants employed overseas receive compensation without properly resigning, and Adams disregarded the president’s orders.

In addition to retrieving money, he stressed the significance of looking into and punishing supervisors and department leaders who engage in similar fraudulent activities.
