at the State House in Abuja,
according to Minister of State
for Environment Adekunle
Salako.
Salako emphasised that this prohibition is an essential component of the government’s larger plan for managing plastic waste, which attempts to address the interrelated problems of pollution, biodiversity loss, and climate change. Salako underlined the seriousness of plastic pollution in Nigeria by saying, “This initiative demonstrates our commitment to addressing the triple threat of climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution.”
Salako bemoaned, “Plastic waste is a major issue in our country,” citing the dangers plastic waste brings to the environment and public health in addition to clogging drains and causing flooding and ocean pollution.
