NIGERIA AND GHANA TO REPRESENT AFRICA AT THE NATIONAL SPELLING BEE IN USA (2025)
The Young Educators Foundation, a non-governmental organisation, has announced that Nigeria and Ghana will represent Africa at the prestigious Scripps National Spelling Bee in the United States in 2025.
Eugenia Tachie-Menson, the foundation’s CEO, stated this in a statement released to journalists in Abuja on Thursday.
Tachie-Menson stated that Ghana had been representing the continent in the spelling tournament, which examined kids’ spelling and vocabulary abilities, for approximately two decades.
She stated that the foundation, in partnership with the Lucid Education Initiative in Nigeria, enabled Nigeria to join the representation.
“The goal of this collaboration is to instill a passion for spelling and literacy in Nigerian youths. “The Scripps National Spelling Bee is more than just a competition; it celebrates discipline, word mastery, and academic accomplishment. “In addition to bringing Nigerian students and schools into the global spotlight, it will improve young learners’ cognitive skills, critical thinking, and mental agility.”
“It will also foster curiosity and a lifelong love of language and learning.” She stated that the foundation is already in the process of selecting kids to compete at the national level for global representation.
