PETER OBI CRITICISES REPS PROPOSAL TO GET NEW PRESIDENTIAL FLEETS

The Labour Party’s nominee for president in 2023, Peter Obi, has voiced his dissatisfaction of the Federal Government’s plan to expand the Presidential fleet with additional aircraft.

This comes after Vice President Kashim Shettima and President Bola Tinubu were advised to buy new aircraft by the House of Representatives Committee on National Security and Intelligence.

Obi responded to the move on Monday by calling it “unacceptable” and “insensitive” to the financial struggles that Nigerians endure in a post on his verified X handle.

He said it is regrettable that the administration is giving priority to opulent spending when the nation has economic difficulties.

“It is unacceptable that the government is considering purchasing new presidential jets when Nigerians are wallowing in poverty,” Obi said in a statement on his social media handle.

“This is a clear show of insensitivity to the suffering of the Nigerian people.”

Obi’s criticism comes as the country grapples with economic woes and the government’s decision to sell three planes from the Presidential Air Fleet earlier this year.
