FG DEBUNKS THE NEWS OF RENAMING MURTALA MUHAMMED EXPRESSWAY AFTER WOLE SOYINKA
According to the Federal Government, Wole Soyinka Way has not replaced Murtala Muhammed Expressed Way in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
In a statement released on Monday in Abuja by his media assistant, Rabiu Ibrahim, the minister of information and national orientation, Mohammed Idris, stated that this administration had never considered such a concept.
For the record, President Bola Tinubu officially opened Arterial Road N20 (from Katampe to Jahi) on June 4.
This new road connects the Northern Parkway (also known
as Ahmadu Bello Way) and the
Outer Northern Motorway, which
is currently in place.
“FCT Minister Mr. Nyesom Wike suggested to the President that the road be named after Prof. Wole Soyinka during the inauguration of the N20 (a new road), and the President agreed.” Thus, Prof. Soyinka is honoured with the designation of Arterial Road N20. General Murtala Ramat Mohammed, our distinguished previous head of state, is honoured to have his name preserved on the Murtala Muhammed Motorway.
“We kindly request that everyone ignore any false information pertaining to the Murtala Muhammed Expressway’s rebranding. Mr. Idris declared, “The report is completely false and only exists in the purveyors’ imaginations.”
