NIGERIA CELEBRATES IT’S DEMOCRACY DAY
In honour of Democracy Day, which celebrates 25 years of continuous democratic rule, President Bola Tinubu gave a national broadcast on Wednesday.
Tinubu discussed Nigeria’s democratic experience, thanked former leaders, and outlined his vision for the country’s future in his speech.
He honoured those, including as Chief MKO Abiola and General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua, who were instrumental in Nigeria’s democratic battle.
Tinubu brought out that democracy is a way of life that encompasses freedom, liberty, and the peaceful settlement of disputes. It goes beyond holding elections on a regular basis.
In order to create a more resilient and balanced economy and lessen reliance on oil earnings, he recognised the economic
struggles that Nigerians are currently facing.
Tinubu emphasised his administration’s strategy of engaging in talks with labour unions on matters such as the national minimum wage, prioritising communication above confrontation. He promised to keep pushing for economic democracy and making sure Nigeria advances on a path of development and inclusivity.
