LABOUR MAY SUSPEND STRIKE AS FEDERAL GOVERNMENT PROPOSES A HIGHER MINIMUM WAGE.
24 hours after Labour shut down Nigeria, heads of the Nigeria Work Congress and Worker’s guild Congress have arrived at an arrangement with the National Government to suspend the continuous endless strike.
The Secretary to the Federal
Government, George Akume revealed this on Tuesday night while divulging the goals of the crisis meeting with Labour.
The four-point goals were issued by the Information and Orientation
Minister Mohammed Idris, Minister of State Labour and Employment Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, NLC President, Joe Ajaero and TUC President, Festus Osifo.
As indicated by the goals, the central government said it is focused on paying a minimum
Wage that is higher than N60,000.
The goal expressed that the three sided Advisory group is to meet consistently for the following week to show up at a pleasant National Minimum wage.
Critically, they added that Labour will meet quickly to think about the national government’s responsibility.
“Work in yielding to the high regard of the President, President of the Military, the Government Republic of Nigeria’s responsibility in iv above embraces to gather a gathering of its organs promptly to think about this responsibility; and No laborer would be exploited because of the Industrial activities”,a piece of the goal read.
“For certain, Labour will suspend its endless strike on Tuesday to proceed with dealings with the three sided panel.
“This is in accordance with the responsibility separated from the public authority after the gathering with the SGF”, he said.
In the mean time, a prior gathering between Labour and Federal authorities finished in a halt.
Subsequently, laborers started an endless strike on Monday, 3 June over the disappointment of the public authority to execute the Minimum wage and inversion of the electricity tariff hike.
