Constituents of VISA® Paint Remover
1. Methylene Chloride (Dichloromethane) – A powerful solvent that penetrates and lifts multiple layers of paint quickly.
2. N-Methyl-2-Pyrrolidone (NMP) – Often used in safer formulations; dissolves resins and varnishes.
3. Toluene or Xylene – Hydrocarbon solvents that aid in breaking down oil-based paints and varnishes.
4. Ethanol / Isopropanol – Helps dissolve shellac and water-based coatings.
5. Caustic Soda (Sodium Hydroxide) – Effective in breaking down old, tough coatings, especially on wood and metal.
6. Acetone – Fast-evaporating solvent that enhances penetration and speeds up paint removal.
7. Thickeners (e.g., Cellulose Derivatives) – Give the remover a gel or paste form so it clings to vertical surfaces.
8. Surfactants – Improve wetting and spreading on surfaces.
9. Water (in water-based / eco-friendly formulas).
