Brief History:
Nsukka Medical Clinic is a private Hospital and Maternity registered with Enugu State Health institution, Section 19 of Enugu state Edict of 1988. It is situated at Nru village, UgwuNkwo, Nsukka. It was registered as a hospital with ten beds on 10th December 1992. The registeration no is MH/M/PHC/519/13.

Growth:
In 1999, the facility acquired its own building and modified most of its services. It installed a 32000 gallon water storage tank to take care of its water needs through rain water harvestation and in dry season, supply from water tankers.
In 2002, Nsukka Medical Clinic added ultrasound machine and a Digital X- Ray Machine, both housed in the hospital accommodation, though in a detached building. The hospital has a mortuary with space for 8 bodies, initially for dead bodies emanating from hospital. It is a dry embalmment facility. Although we have a cold room that can contain twenty bodies which cannot be operated due to epileptic electric supply and high cost of gas to run the big generator set

In 2007, the facility applied for and joined National Health Insurance Scheme. It became mandatory that it registered with cooperative Affairs Commission (CAC) even though it is operating in a rural setting.
It also applied for Malpractice Insurance cover with NICON Insurance Company.
To the glory of God, this hospital has produced 3 Medical Doctors and a Pharmacist, all biological children of the Medical Director. The first two are pursuing residency programme in Radiology and Surgery respectively, the third has passed his primary in ophthalmology and is looking for a placement for residency programme in ophthalmology and the Pharmacist currently Works in this Hospital.
On the whole by the grace of God, it is hoped that the hospital will be a full fledged Medical Institution committed to services in quality and quantity in a few years’ time, when all these residents would have come out to join.
About the laboratory and the Radiography department, both are in house facility. The hospital stamp covers all of them.
The motto of the hospital is “That those who will live may not die”
In pursuant of this, the director is living around the hospital complex and this guarantees 24 hour services; excellent for emergency cases and that is why we are very effective in managing emergency cases. Four of the most important staff of the hospital are living around the hospital complex. These staff are two midwives, one theatre Nurse and one Laboratory Technician. Cases that need emergency surgical intervention like caesarean section, accident cases and fractures, strangulated hernias, and ruptured ectopics are efficiently and promptly handled because of this proximity.
We run peculiar two shift duty plan especially for the hospital functionaries. This guarantees longer contacts and effective monitoring and management of our patients. The patients are happy and grateful for this private arrangement. The hospital provides lunch for all its staff daily, weekends inclusive.
