PROFILE OF OKEKE, NCHEDO PRISCILLA (HEAD, DEPARTMENT OF FRENCH)
Okeke, Nchedo Priscilla is a Lecturer in the Department of French at Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe. She has an impressive track record of academic and administrative excellence, spanning across years in teaching, research, administration and community development. She is the Head, Department of French and also a certified Full Member of the Nigerian Institute of Translators & Interpreters (NITI) since 2021 and she has translated two books. She is a registered Teacher of Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), Member, Inter-College Association of French Teachers (INTERCAFT) and Member, College of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU). Previously, she was a French Teacher at All Hallows Seminary, Onitsha where she received the Lady Emilia Udoji’s prize for The Best Female External Teacher in 2012/2013 and 2014/2015 Academic Sessions respectively. She also received an award for excellent performance from WOTCLEF, Bauchi State Chapter in 2006.

Okeke Nchedo’s research interests are in Literary Translation with particular focus on the translation of literary works into French, English and Igbo. Her research focus is also on leveraging AI and modern technology for enhanced translation and teaching of French as a foreign language, language policy, translation theory and practice as well as Nigerian literature written in/translated into French. Her scholarly articles have been published in top notch educational and language Journals. Her commitment and dedication to French Language and Translation Studies is evident in her earning a BA (Honours) in French, followed by a Master of Arts degree in French Translation with an emphasis on Literary Translation, from Nnamdi Azikiwe University in Awka-Nigeria. Presently, she is rounding off her PhD in French Translation which further solidifies her expertise. The DELF B1 and DELF B2 certifications from the Ministère de l’éducation nationale et de la jeunesse, République Française are valuable achievements that showcase her proficiency in French.
