Professor Joshua E. Umeifekwem graduated in 1991 with Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) degree, 2nd Class upper Division in Health and Physical Education, from the Department of Health and Physical Education University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
As one of the best graduating students of the Department, he was invited to join the services of the Department of Health and Physical Education, University of Nigeria as a graduate assistant in 1995 and subsequently rose to the rank of senior lecturer in 2005. Prof. Joshua completed his Masters degree in Sport Psychology from the same Department in 1997 and later proceeded to the University of Ibadan, Ibadan Nigeria where he obtained his PhD degree in Exercise physiology in 2008.
As a physical Educator and Sport scientist, he has taught several professional courses and mentored students at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
In addition to teaching, he is also an astute researcher in diverse areas of Sport Psychology and Exercise Physiology and has many national and International publications to his credit in the areas of Physical Education, Sport Psychology and Exercise Physiology.
He has served the University of Nigeria in various capacities including: Honorary coach and team Manager for both male and female field Hockey and Volleyball; Member of the University of Nigeria senate ceremonials committee; The University of Nigeria Mace bearer since 2005; Associate Dean, Faculty of Education, University of Nigeria, Nsukka (2010-2012) and the Dean of Faculty of Education.
As his community service programme, he has been involved in the designing and provision of fitness and well-being instructions, formulation and implementation of movement challenging games related physical activities that help clients to experience and master dimensions of movement potentials as a creative, dynamic, evolving and empowering enterprise.
More so, he offers Sport Psychology and Exercise Physiology professional services to the University of Nigeria Community and student athletes in the area of stress management, coping strategies in sports and Exercise prescription for clients needing specialized attention.
He is happily married with children.
